Story Rubrics

What constitutes a good digital story?  

Architecture
Craftmanship The story is easy to follow and understand; it is neat, clean and complete.
Economy of Detail The story is told with exactly the right amount of detail. It does not seem too short nor does it seem too long.
Effect/Affect The story has an effect or affect for the audience. There is an instructional or emotional payoff.
Media
Multi-Modal The story combines multiple forms of media, e.g. audio, video, web, social, graphics, text, etc.
Original The story contains original-media; created specifically for this story or presentation and not taken from somewhere else.
Permissions Including outside media is fine and good. Any media that is not original has been properly credited/attributed with Creative Commons licensing.
Distinction
Inventiveness The story is told in a unique and interesting format. Uncommon.
Participatory The story engages the audience directly, e.g. making them a part of the story, or contributors to the story.
Imagery The story creates distinct imagery and tone for the audience. Imagery is in the mind and can be done with graphics, audio, video, written word, etc.

Reflective Context The author includes some reflection on the production process. How was this made? What did you learn? How could this be used as teaching and learning method?
Distinction The story, the media, and the tools used to produce it - are distinctly different from anything else this author has used in previous stories.
